My April Journal Quilt
Bits of silk at the bottom of the laundry
baskets, some of the overdyed Indian
cotton, and a piece of red silk found on
on a floor (unspecified). Stitched with
cream silk thread, a gift from a friend,
and indigo dyed cotton thread.
It is seriously raggy - seams on the outside
shredding in a delightful manner!

Love the quilt, adore the title!
Thanks Linda - I think I had an inspired moment when I came up with the title. More such moments please!
We must have been thinking alike! Wait until you see my April quilt which is entirely hand stitched and made of overlapping strips of silk with all the raw edges part of the design. Still stitching it so a couple of days yet.
I just discovered boro a couple months ago but I have been doing something like it for a couple years. I have made grocery bags with decorated pockets. The pockets had pieces of discharged shibori fabric hand stitched on black canvas. It is stunning. I also did the same thing on a denim jacket. I get noticed. I love the journal quilt, the bit of red silk really pops. Thanks for sharing. Diane
Elizabeth - I await the screening/unveiling on your blog. There must be something in the air!
Diane - boro seems to be 'the thing' of the moment. I recycle, dye and patch with raw edges. Guess it has always happened. Interesting.
I really like this. The red is startling and raggy is brave and good! xx
